Étape 3 sur 8
Grammaire
La structure de l'épisode, expliquée en français
Structure principale
there is / there are ; this / that
There is + singulier (There is a bed), there are + pluriel (There are five doors) : c'est le « il y a » anglais. Attention, il change avec le nombre, alors que « il y a » ne change jamais. Question : Is there a light? Négation : There is no light (ou There is not a light).
This = ceci / voici, pour ce qui est proche (This is the kitchen) ; that = cela / voilà, pour ce qui est plus loin (That is the attic). Rose présente chaque pièce avec this et montre au loin avec that.
Piège : le francophone dit souvent it has ou it is pour « il y a ». It is a bed signifie « c'est un lit », pas « il y a un lit ».
Exemples de l'histoire :
- There is a big table and six chairs.
- There are cups on the wall.
- That is the attic.
Aussi dans cet épisode
pluriels réguliers, prépositions in / on / next to
Pluriel régulier : on ajoute -s (cups, bedrooms, flowers, chairs, things). Trois prépositions de lieu : in (dans), on (sur), next to (à côté de). Under (sous) apparaît aussi.
- There are cups on the wall.
- The bathroom is next to your room.
